iPad on track for March launch

After rumors of a delay in the iPad launch it looks like we might actually be on track. BGR reports that Asian component suppliers have confirmed that their supplies are on schedule, and Foxconn should have the resources to manufacture up to 700,000 iPads in March and one million units in April.

We're also hearing a rumor that March 26 is the actual launch date. Stay tuned.

Apple Tablet Device Coming Soon?

The Financial Times reports that Apple will launch a tablet device along with new iPod models in September 2009.

"The talks come as Apple is separately racing to offer a portable, full-featured, tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season, in what the entertainment industry hopes will be a new revolution. The device could be launched alongside the new content deals, including those aimed at stimulating sales of CD-length music, according to people briefed on the project.

Apple is working with EMI, SonyMusic, Warner Music and Universal Music Group, on a project the company has codenamed "Cocktail", according to four people familiar with the situation."

T-Mobile is launching their first 3G modem with the webConnect USB stock. The webConnect has an integrated microSDHC slot and provides HSDPA 1900/2100/AWS for use in the US and abroad. It also features triband EDGE coverage when you can't get 3G.

The webConnect launches today for $49.99 on a two-year contract after rebate or $249.99 contract-free.

Lenovo's X1 for China

The Lenovo X1 is sold in China. It's a triband EDGE handset with its own UI called "Touch Dream." Isn't the name X1 and the UI "Touch Dream" a little close to some other handsets we know. They could never get away with that in the US.

Mozilla releases Fennec Beta

Mozilla today released a limited beta of its long-awaited Fennec mobile browser (Firefox Mobile). At the moment, only users with Nokia N810s will be able to try the beta as the scope of this release is extremely limited.

Those who want to try the beta without a Nokia N810 can do so on a PC. Fennec was built on Javascript so it will run on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

A Mozilla contributor said about the beta:

"On the feature front, we've enabled plugins so you can now watch videos on your favorite sites, and we've got in our first pass at improved bookmark management and support for bookmark folders. A lot of time was spent on infrastructure that we could use to build the rest of our app with. You're now able to scroll things like preferences and the new bookmarks list. One of our main focuses for the next milestone will be on polishing the user interface areas like the extension manager will get a face lift and we'll start working more on some of the usability issues people have reported. "

New iPhone and iPod Touch models coming soon?

On the heels of the new iPhone 3.0 software announcement, could new hardware be coming down the pike for the iPhone? According to BGR, they received some information that indicates new hardware for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

"Apple normally makes their device IDs in chronological order, from first released to last released. Here is what I found very interesting for you. Quick, here is an example of the past devices:

iPhone First Gen - 0x1290
iPod touch 1G - 0x1291
iPhone 3G - 0x1292
iPod touch 2G - 0x1293

Then, here is what is found in the ramdisk:

iPhone2,1 - 0x1294
iProd0,1 - 0x1295
iPod2,2 - 0x1296
iPhone3,1 - 0x1297
iFPGA - 0x1298
iPod3,1 - 0x1299″

This looks like a pretty cool piece of equipment, but the reviews aren't so hot. Just look at what OhGizmo has to say about it.
