Impatica Showmate - Powerpoint presentations from your handheld

Impatica Showmate is a pocket-sized device that weighs less than three ounces and allows you to project Powerpoint presentations from your Blackberry or handheld. ShowMate enables mobile professionals to travel with nothing more than a wireless handheld on their hip and a ShowMate in their pocket. Full-featured PowerPoint presentations can now be viewed on the handheld or projected wirelessly by connecting the ShowMate to any projector or monitor. Presenters can roam freely to engage the audience, navigate to any slide to answer a question or emphasize a point and even view their notes on the handheld while presenting. The ShowMate transforms the handheld into a wireless remote control and personal teleprompter—the ultimate presentation tool.

ASUS A626 slim PDA

Can you believe they still make PDAs without a phone included? I suppose there are some applications where you'd want a PDA only, but I can't think of one. Never the less, this is a very slim Pocket PC.

Water bottle safe

Remember the days when you would cut out the pages of a book to hide your stuff? This is really a leap forward with a water bottle safe.

"A normal bottle of non-carbonated water complete with liquid inside. A thief would never guess that this bottle has an interlocking hidden compartment.

Simply twist and pull and the secret compartment is revealed. A virtually fool-proof way of hiding those valuables."

Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth Headset

I wish I could recommend a Bluetooth headset but they all have problems. In my view, the technology just isn't there yet. They all seem prone to interference and problems and no matter how good a mike is, if it's not right in front of your mouth it won't sound as good as a phone that has a mike right in front of your mouth. With that said, if you are going to look into one, this one from Nokia looks very good. As far as size goes, it's very small.

Here is a review of the Seidio Extended Battery for the Treo 650, 700p, 700w, and 700wx. I have one and I love this battery. It lasts for a couple days under normal conditions. Awesome!

Red Blackberry Pearl

Is it true? Rumor has it that there is a red Blackberry Pearl coming to Cingular very soon. It doesn't appear that any other carrier will have the red Pearl but cross your fingers. No word on pricing yet either, but we can expect it to be the same as the white Blackberry Pearl.

Google Phone???

News.com is claiming that Google will release a phone called the "GPhone." It is supposed to be like a BlackBerry and will be available on multiple carriers. No word on pricing or a release date so this could be a rumor...but I doubt it. The pic comes from Gizmodo.

Helio to release OZ Smartphone

Looks like Helio is releasing a smartphone named "OZ." Gizmodo has a tipster that has spilled the beans on this upcoming smartphone. This one will be a rebranded Pantech PN-810. It will include EV-DO, a 2.1-megapixel camera, 260k TFT LCD, and Bluetooth.

Looks good.

Tennis Shoe Phone

I remember the show Get Smart from my childhood days. Does that show my age? Maxwell Smart would use a shoe phone. It was a dress shoe and not a tennis shoe, but this still brings back memories of that long lost show.

AMEX Digital Skype Phone

Here's a very cool wireless Skype phone by AMEX Digital. The touchscreen keys make this is a very cool looking device.

Treo 700wx - Cool but buggy!

I decided to give up my Treo 700p for a 700wx. What's the difference? Well, the hardware is exactly the same but the 700wx runs Windows Mobile Pocket PC Version. It's a great concept but it's buggy. The Bluetooth is very dicey and nearly unusable unless you like reseting it every few hours. The PDA functions are nice but the screen is too small. The phone doesn't work as well as I'd like. Can you believe that when you hit the phone button a menu pops up? Only Microsoft would do something like that. Pressing the phone button should bring up the phone!

What I love about the Windows Mobile is contact pictures. Once you set a contact picture in your contacts, every email, text message, phone call etc., will include a picture of the person contacting you. This changes the entire experience for me. I love it!

I'm still playing with it and hoping the next version will be better. If they fix the Bluetooth bugs and get the phone to sound better, I'll be happy.
